Hill College Board of Regents holds August monthly meeting

On August 20, 2024, the Hill College Board of Regents met for the monthly regular session meeting.

The minutes from the July meeting were approved. The financial report was presented and approved. Vice President of Administrative Services Billy Don Curbo also reviewed the college’s investment policies, which were approved.

After a public hearing, the proposed operational budget for the 2024–2025 school year was approved.

President Mills presented his report, including the recent nursing pinning ceremony, orientation for the Burleson Opportunity Fund, and All Staff Day.

An update on enrollment was presented; overall enrollment numbers continue to trend upward.

Personnel updates were also presented and approved.

Vice President of Student Learning & Success Irene Accomando gave an update on the Fire Academy reconfiguration and introduced Fire Protection & EMS Program Coordinator Bobby Goolsby. Three adjunct instructors have been hired. Administration is working on a marketing plan and ways to reach out to the community to build program interest. There will be an open house to see facility and equipment improvements at the fall advisory meeting. Enrollment for the spring is set to open this fall.

Dean of Students and Athletics Randy Graves presented the athletic report. Fall sports are underway. Students have moved in. For more information on standings and upcoming events, visit hillcollegeathletics.com.

Physical Plant Director Matt Southard presented a bid for approval for the Industrial Maintenance program to be moved to the Cleburne Technical Center, for a total of $202,725. The motion was approved.

Accomando presented a consideration of approval for the 2024-2025 College Catalog. The motion was approved.

Curbo presented the proposed 2024 tax rate. The board approved proposal of the voter-approval tax rate of $0.078060/$100. Subsequently, a public hearing was held September 3, 2024, to hear comments regarding the proposed rate. Following the public hearing, the proposed rate passed.
